About the Artist
For as long as I can remember I have been drawing and so I applied to do a four year painting degree at The Glasgow School of Art. I was accepted and began in 1999.
I graduated in 2003 and spent a year travelling. However, after a taste of a Monday to Friday nine 'til five job for six months as a visual merchandiser, I was once again drawn back to painting. I began with a portrait commission and, encouraged by the finished piece, took on a studio close to my home village of Kilmacolm in May 2005.
I have continued to work as an artist full time and am now working from home in Glasgow. I love doing something I enjoy and as with any artist there are good days and bad days. Sometimes it's hard to be self-critical and it's hard work but the sense of satisfaction when I finish a piece I am pleased with is so great that I know I will never stop.
I am currently accepting portrait commissions and exhibiting work in Scottish galleries but hope to have work shown more widely in the future.
